Cedarwood essential oil is extremely gentle on the skin, with somewhat similar properties to the much more expensive sandalwood, and both have a property that is described as mucous membrane tonic, which makes cedarwood oil very good for treating sore throats (eg. in a gargle, with lemon, tea tree, or manuka).
It is also very good in steam inhalations for inflamed lungs, and it has general anti-inflammatory properties. It has a woody type of fragrance that appeals to many men.
Cedarwood blends well with herbal oils like Clary sage, Cypress, and spicy essential oils like Frankincense. Cedarwood also blends well with Bergamot, lemon, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and Thyme.
